In this blog post, we're going to lay out how to install almost any cargo case, with one of our M8 kits, by drilling into the cargo box.
If you're reading this thinking, "why in the heck would I drill into a brand new box??", well then this article probably isn't for you.
We do have ROAM cases, which can paired with some rugged mounts, allowing easy cargo box removal without drilling into the box. There are also some options from Yakima and Thule, which we showcase here.
The cargo case we ultimately landed on was from Apache, designed to hold fire arms. In this case, we were able to keep the case below cab height, using our 8" Low Profile Bed Rack.
To secure the case, we used an M8 kit which includes 4 bolts, and 4 push button t nuts - the bolts themselves are 16mm in length. If you're going with a thicker cargo box, there is a chance you'll need longer bolts from the hardware store. If so, they are an M8 x 1.25 thread. You can also add washers, if you're looking for a better seal. Push button t nut and bolt featured below.

Below is an image with the Apache case installed. We laid the box down where we wanted it, marked the hole locations with a measuring tape and a sharpie, and drilled the holes, and then bolted everything down.
Disclaimer: Make sure the bolts are secured properly before driving, Blue thread locker may be used
